SEA Games Duathlon Results

The Malaysian duathletes missed out on the medals this morning, with Shahrom Abdullah and Heidilee Mohammad finishing 4th and 5th respectively in the mens race, which was won by Ryan Mendoza from the Philippines.

Shahrom started the final 5km run neck-and-neck with August Benedicto (PHI) but lost 11 seconds to narrowly miss out on the bronze medal.

In the womens race, Mariana Mohammad and Stephanie Chok finished 5th and 6th respectively. The gold medal winner, with a winning margin of over 9 minutes, was Saifon Piawong from the host nation Thailand.

So Malaysia will be pinning their 2007 SEA Games multi-sport medal hopes on tomorrow's triathlon events, featuring 2005 and reigning womens champion Kimbeley Yap, as well as Ooi Chiew Wei, Wei Kuo Hao and Muhamad Razani.
